The city of Greenville celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Saturday, January 19th with an annual parade. The theme is “Still United for the Dream”. The parade is sponsored by “The Corporation for Cultural Diversity for Greenville, Texas, Inc.” Staging will begin at 9:00 am at Market Square (2205 Lee Street), and the parade begins at 10:00 am. The GHS Band, ROTC, Greenville Firefighers, Greenville Police, elected officials, pastors, churches, and more will participate. There is no entry fee. Participants may walk the route or ride in their car, or on a float. Cash awards are presented to best 3 entries. The winners are chosen by the parade’s Grand Marshall; this year that’s long time GHS teacher Cheryl Brown. Wesley UMC youth will be providing free food and drinks after the parade in what they usually call, “Feed the Dream”. Additional information should be available at this Facebook page.
